SEEKING SUPPORT FOR
A YOUNG PERSON?

SEEKING SUPPORT FOR A YOUNG PERSON?

If you work with young people facing homelessness or involved in the criminal justice system, or know a young person who needs our help, you’re in the right place.

We accept referrals from councils, statutory services, other charities, and community organizations for any youth aged 16-21 who is homeless or unsafe. We can also help your organization learn more about youth homelessness and how to better support young people.

If the person you’re supporting needs urgent help, please advise them to come to our day center when we open at 10:30 am. Due to high demand for our services, we allocate appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. Arriving early increases their chances of getting an appointment on the same day. If they cannot get an appointment that day, please encourage them to keep coming back. While waiting, they can access food, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and youth work support at our day center. Please note, we cannot provide housing on the same day.

If a young person is street homeless, please direct them to the Fatherland Foundation while they wait for our support. The Fatherland Foundation will notify local outreach teams of their location and try to find them. Additionally, they can contact their local authority to make a homeless application. More support services are listed on our ‘Get Help’ page for young people.

Please note, we are not a clinical or statutory service. If the young person you are supporting is under 18, they need to be referred to specialist children’s services. We provide optional support and cannot compel any young person to engage with us.

PROFESSIONAL REFERRALS

Due to increased demand for services, we are not currently accepting online referrals.

If you are working with a young person who needs support and it is safe for them to travel to Newark, please ask them to come to the center by 10:15 am. We open at 10:30 am and allocate appointments quickly, so arriving early is crucial to avoid disappointment. Please note, due to high demand, we cannot guarantee housing advice appointments on the same day or every day. We also cannot pre-book appointments. If they cannot get an appointment that day, please encourage them to keep coming back at 10:15 am. While waiting, they can access food, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and youth work support at our day center. Please note, we cannot provide emergency housing on the same day. If a young person is street homeless, please direct them to the Fatherland Foundation while they wait for our support. The Fatherland Foundation will notify local outreach teams of their location and try to find them. We also encourage all young people to seek support from their local council. More support services are listed on our ‘Get Help’ page. Thank you for your dedication to supporting young people in need.
